"Petition: Support EIM Strand Students of Cogtong National High School"

The Issue

Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) is a strand that cannot be learned through books alone. Unlike purely academic subjects, EIM requires hands-on practice, demonstrations, and real-life application. We learn best by working directly with wires, circuits, tools, and other electrical components that allow us to apply the theories we study. Without these essential materials, many students struggle to fully understand the lessons, as reading about electricity is never the same as actually repairing a circuit or installing equipment.

We, the students of the Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) Strand at Cogtong National High School, are speaking up to demand something extremely important: additional resources for experiential learning.

Every day in class, we aspire to become proficient technicians and electricians who can benefit our community as well as our family. However, the shortage of wires, tools, and other necessary supplies for practice and maintenance makes that desire more difficult to achieve at the moment.

Because of this, having the tools and equipment for our school is not merely a "want" but rather a necessity for us to develop into competent students today and responsible professionals in the future.

Learning feels real when we can actually do it.

Lessons come to life when we have the proper resources. We have the opportunity to touch, test, and try things ourselves rather than merely imagining how they operate. It adds excitement to the learning process and enables us to fully comprehend the lessons that our teachers are teaching. Every activity turns into a learning and memory-enhancing experience.

Everyone deserves a chance to participate.

Some students are able to try while the others watch due to a lack of resources. It seems unfair and impedes our progress. If we have the tools, we can all take part, exchange knowledge, and help each other grow. It instills in us values that extend beyond the classroom, such as accountability, tolerance, and cooperation.

It prepares us for our future careers.

A lot of us aspire to work as certified technicians, engineers, and electricians. With additional resources, we will graduate with practical experience that employers value in addition to knowledge.

Safety for students with right equipment.

Without the right instruments and safety equipment, working with electricity can be dangerous. In addition to guaranteeing the success of our projects, having the appropriate equipment shields us from mishaps and injuries. Safety should always come first, and giving us the resources we need will enable us to learn responsibly and self-assuredly.

Supporting EIM students means more than just giving them tools; it means investing in young people who will eventually illuminate many homes and communities with their solutions and vitality. You give us the strength to continue learning, serving, and creating a better future.

Getting by is not what we want. Our goal is to succeed. When a lightbulb goes out, a fan malfunctions, or a circuit fails, we want to be prepared to fix it—not with borrowed or insufficient tools, but with the right knowledge and equipment.
