The Issue

A Holland America cruise ship more than 200 sick people (with flu-like symptoms) on board has plans to disembark at Port Everglades, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida after it was denied permission to dock in Chile and Panama.

The cruise was never intended to stop in Fort Lauderdale. It departed from Buenos Aires after the world was put on notice of COVID-19.

8 sick passengers have been confirmed to have coronavirus.

Broward County is 1 of the top communities in the State of Florida for COVID-19 cases. Port Everglades has already been linked to many COVID-19 cases inside Broward County.

We should not be putting the residents of greater Fort Lauderdale in danger by allowing this ship to dock at Port Everglades, permitting its sick patrons to disembark from the vessel.
