Petition seeking INEC Nigeria to modify ballot paper to carry attached candidate picture.
The Issue
The national assembly and INEC Nigeria should do their duty as to preserve the common right if the citizen by passing a bill to mandate the INEC to print a ballot paper with the pictures of contestants on it for easy identification of candidate of choice and voting during 2023 General election.
Our ballot paper should be produced to carry candidates' photographs because in actual sense, it is actually the individual with his vice that we are voting for and not the parties. Almost all the countries in Africa has both the faces, the name of the candidates as well as their running mates, and the party logos on their ballot papers.
Furthermore, voting should be designed in such a way as to allow individual inclusion, considering everyone's literacy level. One who cannot read nor write can easily identify candidate of choice by mere seeing the picture.
It will also reduce the high risk of void votes as most of the void votes are as a common result of indecision arising from inability to read properly due to bad sight or illiteracy.
