Petition: Save the Children who Face Bullying, Mental Health Issues & Abuse. They Need You
The Issue
Too many children are suffering in silence. Some of them do not survive it.
In today’s schools, children face pressures that previous generations never did. Bullying no longer ends at the school gate. Cyberbullying is constant, public, and relentless. It can be shared, repeated, and replayed endlessly. For many children, there is no escape -not even at home.
Even when a psychologist exists in a school, many children do not feel safe enough to speak. They are afraid of being exposed, misunderstood, or targeted even more. So they keep everything inside -bullying, fear, sadness, confusion, and pain- until the weight becomes unbearable.
This silence has consequences.
Children are being driven to self-harm or even suicide.
Some children feel different and do not yet have the words or the safety to express it. Others are questioned, mocked, or excluded simply for who they are or how they feel. When a child is made to feel that their identity is something to be ashamed of, isolation replaces self-acceptance. A child who grows up without feeling accepted and emotionally safe grows wounded. And emotional wounds carried from childhood do not disappear -they shape a person’s entire life.
We cannot continue to treat this as an individual problem.
This is a systemic failure.
We demand the mandatory presence of trained child and adolescent psychologists in every school, from kindergarten through high school. Not as a symbolic role, but as a visible, trusted, everyday presence.
Children must have safe, confidential spaces where they can talk about bullying, cyberbullying, emotional distress, identity questions, sadness, fear, and any form of abuse or violence at home -without fear of exposure or punishment.
This is not about politics.
It is about prevention.
It is about responsibility.
A society that allows children to suffer in silence, creates adults who carry that pain for life. If we want healthier people, healthier relationships, and a healthier future, we must start where the damage begins.
We call on the President of the Hellenic Republic to take a clear stand and support immediate, meaningful action to make schools emotionally safe places for every child.
No child should feel that silence is their only option.
