UPDATE: Why the Original Persona Q2 Created Blatant Double Standards, (And How We Fix It?)

Dearest Persona community…

First of all, thank you to everyone who has signed and/or shared this petition so far. As we continue to push for ATLUS to give Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth the modern remaster it deserves on modern consoles and PC, it's important to clarify exactly why we are fighting so hard for this-and why the original 2019 release created an unacceptable double standard within the franchise.

When ATLUS released Persona Q2 in the West as a text-only, Japanese-voiced title, they broke a longstanding promise of quality to their Western fanbase. Here is how that decision fundamentally created a double standard:

  1. The Spin-Off Precedent Was Broken:

Historically, ATLUS has given premium treatment to Persona spin-offs. Mainstream spin-offs like “Persona 4 Arena”, “Persona 4: Dancing All Night”, and the original Persona Q on the exact same 3DS hardware were all given full, high-quality English vocal tracks. Leaving a massive, story-heavy RPG crossover text-only-while games entirely about dancing received full voice acting-felt like a massive step backward for the community.

  2. We Were Locked Out of Crucial Content: Persona Q2 is filled with incredible mid-battle banter, navigator callouts, and unique character-to-character dynamics during combat. Because the game lacked an English dub, a huge portion of this battle chatter never received English subtitles or text translations. Western players paid full retail price for a game but were structurally locked out of the exact character flavor and fan-service that the game was marketed on.

  3. The Full Wait for Half-assed Work: Western fans waited over six months for Persona Q2 to arrive-a localization window historically reserved for full-scale voice recording. The double standard lay in demanding that fans wait the traditional length of time, only to deliver an unvoiced product because the 3DS lifecycle was winding down.
  4. A Disconnect from the Characters We Built Bonds With: For Western audiences, the English voice actors are these characters. After spending hundreds of hours building bonds with them in Persona 3, 4, and 5, forcing fans to adjust to a single language track for a massive crossover celebration alienated a loyal fanbase-the exact fanbase that heavily drove the global success of Persona 5.

What We Are Demanding in the Remaster

The blueprint for a remaster already exists. ATLUS successfully transitioned single-screen mapping with the Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection. With the massive success of Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Royal, the definitive modern English voice casts are actively working with ATLUS.

We want a definitive remaster that rights this wrong: a full English dub featuring the P3 Reload, P4 Revival, and P5 Royal casts.

How You Can Help Right Now:

  1. Share this update on Twitter/X, Reddit, and Discord using the hashtags #DubPersonaQ2 and #PersonaQ2Remaster
  2. Tag @Atlus_West to let them know the demand for a definitive version hasn't faded.

Let's keep pushing. Let's give this massive crossover the premium English treatment it always deserved!
