To the Honorable Mayor and City Council of Kings Mountain, NC,

We, the residents and taxpayers of Kings Mountain, express our deep concern and opposition to the proposed new city hall project. We believe that the substantial financial resources allocated to this project represent a misallocation of taxpayer funds and a disregard for the more pressing needs of our community.
Our specific concerns include:
 * Fiscal Irresponsibility:
   * The proposed project carries a significant cost, placing an undue burden on taxpayers. We believe that a thorough and transparent cost-benefit analysis has not been adequately conducted.
   * We question the necessity of a brand-new facility when existing city buildings could potentially be renovated or repurposed at a lower cost.
   * We request full transparency regarding the financing of the project, including projected costs, funding sources, and potential long-term financial implications for the city.
 * Prioritization of Community Needs:
   * We believe that our tax dollars would be better spent addressing critical community needs such as:
     * Infrastructure improvements (roads, water, and sewer systems).
     * Increased funding for public safety (police and fire departments).
     * Investment in parks and recreational facilities.
     * Support for local schools and educational programs.
     * Economic development to bring in more jobs.
   * Many of the people of Kings Mountain are on fixed incomes, and this increase in spending will harm those that are least able to afford it.
 * Lack of Community Input:
   * We feel that the decision-making process regarding this project has lacked sufficient public input and transparency.
   * We demand a more open and inclusive dialogue with residents regarding major city expenditures.
   * We request that a public vote be held regarding the city hall project.
 * Environmental Concerns:
   * Consideration should be taken regarding the environmental impact of constructing a new building.
   * Renovating an existing building would be more environmentally friendly.
Therefore, we, the undersigned, respectfully request that the City Council:
 * Immediately halt all further planning and expenditure on the proposed new city hall project.
 * Conduct a comprehensive review of city spending priorities, with a focus on addressing critical community needs.
 * Engage in a transparent and inclusive public dialogue regarding the city's financial decisions.
 * Allow the citizens of Kings Mountain to vote on this project.
We urge you to reconsider this project and prioritize the needs of the residents of Kings Mountain. We believe that responsible fiscal management and community engagement are essential for the well-being of our city.
