We, the concerned citizens and supporters of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, would like to express our concerns regarding the upcoming and ongoing mega development projects being implemented in the islands under the Government of India.
While development is important for the growth of the nation, many people are worried about the long-term impact these projects may have on the environment, tribal communities, local culture, marine biodiversity, and the peaceful lifestyle of the islands.
The Andaman & Nicobar Islands are ecologically sensitive regions with unique forests, wildlife, indigenous tribes, and natural resources that must be protected carefully. Rapid urbanization, tourism expansion, large-scale construction, and strategic infrastructure projects may create irreversible environmental and social consequences if proper precautions are not taken.
Through this petition, we respectfully request the Government to:
1. Ensure complete environmental protection before approving any major project.
2. Protect the rights, culture, and land of indigenous tribal communities.
3. Maintain ecological balance and marine biodiversity.
4. Conduct transparent public consultations with local residents.
5. Prioritize sustainable development instead of uncontrolled commercialization.
6. Guarantee employment opportunities and benefits for local island residents.
7. Preserve the natural beauty and heritage of Andaman & Nicobar Islands for future generations.
We believe development and environmental protection should go together. Therefore, we request the Government to reconsider or carefully review every major project with transparency, responsibility, and public participation.
We hope our voices and concerns will be heard seriously for the welfare of both the islands and the nation.
