Petition Opposing the Rezoning of 2547, 2555, and 2561 Edgewood Drive from U-1 to U-5
Petition Opposing the Rezoning of 2547, 2555, and 2561 Edgewood Drive from U-1 to U-5
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents, property owners, and concerned community members, respectfully oppose the proposed rezoning of 2547, 2555, and 2561 Edgewood Drive from U-1 Single-Family Residential to U-5 Public and Institutional.
Our opposition is based primarily on concerns regarding public safety, parking, and neighborhood traffic impacts.
Specifically, we are concerned that the proposed rezoning could:
- Increase on-street parking on Edgewood Drive and nearby residential streets.
- Create unsafe conditions for pedestrians, cyclists, school children, and residents due to vehicles parked along the roadway.
- Reduce sight lines for drivers entering and exiting driveways.
- Increase traffic congestion and turning movements on neighborhood streets not designed for institutional traffic.
- Delay emergency vehicle access because of roadway congestion or parked vehicles.
- Alter the residential character of the neighborhood and negatively affect nearby homeowners.
We respectfully request that the City of Beachwood deny the proposed rezoning unless it can be demonstrated, through independent traffic and parking studies and enforceable operating conditions, that the proposal will not adversely affect neighborhood safety, parking availability, traffic flow, or the quality of life of surrounding residents.
We ask the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council to preserve the integrity of the existing U-1 residential neighborhood and place the safety of current residents first.
By signing below, we express our opposition to the proposed rezoning of 2547, 2555, and 2561 Edgewood Drive from U-1 Single-Family Residential to U-5 Public and Institutional.
