PETITION: OPPOSE PROPOSED ZONING CHANGE FOR 828.8-ACRE IN RED OAK TX

PETITION: OPPOSE PROPOSED ZONING CHANGE FOR 828.8-ACRE IN RED OAK TX
The Issue
We, the residents and supporters of Red Oak, Texas, respectfully urge the Red Oak City
Council to deny the proposed zoning change from Agricultural (AG) to Planned Development (PD) for approximately 828.8 acres of land located on Property Identification Numbers 190052, 191657, 290627, 259985, 181631, 290531, 181627, 181625 in Ellis County Appraisal District, City of Red Oak Texas, intended for a high-tech industrial park, including a data center campus. This proposal would convert agricultural land into large-scale industrial use, placing significant infrastructure directly adjacent to established residential communities and homesteads.
We strongly oppose this proposal due to serious concerns about:
• Health and air quality impacts on nearby residents
• Strain on water and power resources
• Noise pollution and environmental disruption
• Declining property values and quality of life
• Long-term unknown risks associated with large-scale data center operations.
This development is planned in close proximity to homes, where families live, raise children, grow their own food, and have invested their lives. Some properties will be forced to share a boundary with this development or be surrounded by it.
On April 27, 2026, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted 3–2 against this proposal after hearing community concerns. We ask that the City Council uphold the recommendation of the commission and the concerns of residents.
We respectfully request that the Red Oak City Council:
• Deny the proposed zoning change for this development
• Preserve agricultural and residential land uses in this area
• Protect the health, safety, and well-being of current residents
• Ensure responsible and appropriate development planning for the future of Red Oak
Red Oak is our home. We deserve to be heard.
