The Issue

We, the undersigned residents, taxpayers, property owners, and concerned citizens of Monroe County, Tennessee, respectfully ask our county officials to oppose industrial-scale, commercial, or hyperscale data center development in Monroe County.

This petition is not about normal server rooms used by schools, hospitals, public safety, small businesses, banks, or county offices. This petition is directed toward large-scale data center developments that could place major demands on our power grid, water resources, roads, emergency services, land use, environment, and taxpayers.

We ask Monroe County officials to:

  • Oppose industrial-scale data centers in Monroe County.
  • Place a temporary moratorium on data center development while the county studies the full impact.
  • Require public notice, public hearings, and independent impact studies before any data center-related rezoning, permit, utility agreement, tax incentive, or development approval.
  • Protect Monroe County’s rural character, natural resources, infrastructure, and quality of life.

Many Monroe County residents have made it clear they do not want large-scale data centers here. We ask our officials to hear the people and act in the best interest of Monroe County.

No industrial-scale data centers in Monroe County.
