Hello neighbors, Summer is winding down and no doubt many of you are ramping up for the flurry of activity that comes with autumn. It seems the same can be said for our local government officials: I share with you news that the Planning Board’s next meeting is scheduled for this Wednesday, August 31 at 7:00 pm at Town Hall (100 Main Street, Huntington, NY). At this meeting there will be a “ DISCUSSION ” regarding the amendment to our town’s Comprehensive Plan that would allow the Villadom mall to be built at Mediavilla Orchard. This is not a hearing. No public statements will be made, but it would be good to show our continued commitment to fighting the proposed development if we have a presence at the meeting. At a minimum, we need a group of folks to be there to hear what the Planning Board’s views are and to move us towards our preparation for 1) executing a powerful response when a recommendation is made to the Town Board and 2) vigorously participating with oral and written testimony when the Town Board holds its hearing on the matter. In other news - literally - I share that PUSH PAUSE (a FIOS1 news program) recently put out a piece on the public’s objection to the mall called “Our Community: A Vision for Huntington”.
