Dear Petitioners, Congratulations, again! We have over 2,200 signatures because YOU have signed and shared this petition. Now, here's some news related to the hearing TOMORROW, Wednesday night (7:00 pm, Town Hall, 100 Main Street, Huntington): Sources from one of the hamlets have shared that the other side is mobilizing. Unfortunately, they are being made EMPTY PROMISES from a few prominent residents who are falsely saying fancy grocery stores and high-end shops are coming to this mall. In reality, the developer has been unsuccessful in securing any tenants yet so what these folks fail to realize is that, if an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan passes, the ONLY thing they will gain is a monstrous commercial space at the expense of zoning laws and our community character and quality of life. If this amendment is passed and construction moves forward, we will never get back what we have lost. These guys and the developer will have speakers at the hearing so WE NEED TO BE STRONGER. Come to the hearing. (Come in groups!) Try your best to arrive early (e.g., 6:30) to secure a seat and prepare to stay late. When you first enter the room, consider signing up to speak – ITS YOUR RIGHT. When it is your turn to speak, the best advice is to do so from your heart. An oral statement of 2-3 minutes that describes how this project would impact you, your family, your neighborhood, and/or your Town is the most powerful contribution you can make (If you need further guidance, please check out my last post on the petition site). Most importantly, when you join us on Wednesday night, you will not be alone.
