Petition to Oppose Proposed Amendment No. 2 to the Noosa Plan 2020

Introduction: PROPOSED AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE NOOSA PLAN 2020 threatens to remove the fundamental rights of property owners, particularly in Medium and High-Density Zones and in particular on blocks over 600sqm where a single dwelling house or a duplex would become “inconsistent” in medium and high-density zones.

Key Concerns: It is crucial for property Owners in Medium and High-Density Zones to retain our rights to build a single dwelling house or a duplex on our own land as granted under the Noosa Plan 2020.

Understanding and Transparency: It is imperative that these proposed amendments be understood and quantified before these regulations are given to the State Government for consideration.

Preserving Neighbourhood Character: Property Owners want to preserve the character of our neighbourhoods and maintain our fundamental rights as Residents and Property Owners.

Call to action: PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION NOW to oppose the proposed amendment No.2 to the noosa plan 2020

We call upon Noosa Council to:

1.     Conduct Economic Analysis: Instigate and conduct an independent economic analysis of the impacts of all the proposed amendments to ensure no harm is done to the economy.

2. Support Development Plans: To ensure all proposed amendments consider and support the endorsed economic development plan, the endorsed housing strategy and that outcomes adhere to the principles of the Council endorsed small business charter.

3. Reject the Amendment: Reject Proposed amendment No. 2 to the Noosa Plan 2020 and to engage with our communities before making any final decisions.

4. Consult with Stakeholders: Take adequate time to consult with all stakeholders across the Noosa shire.

5. Facilitate Open Forums: To conduct open forums in Community spaces and facilitate open, clear, easy to understand, dialogue with the Residents to inform the public of the potential impacts.

Conclusion: We acknowledge the importance of balancing the interests of property owners with those of other community members for a more holistic approach.  Together we can ensure that the needs and rights of all residents are respected.
