Support Community Music. Support Our Neighborhood. Support Professa Prince.

We, the undersigned, respectfully ask our local officials, Parks Department representatives, and law enforcement agencies to work toward a fair and reasonable solution that allows Professa Prince to continue sharing music with our community in a safe, respectful, and lawful manner.

For years, Professa Prince has brought people together through music. His DJ sets have transformed our neighborhood park into a place where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to dance, exercise, socialize, and build lasting connections. What began as music in the park has grown into a cherished community tradition that promotes joy, unity, and neighborhood pride.

Professa Prince has made every effort to comply with the rules established by the city. After being instructed to apply for a permit, he spent his own money to begin that process in good faith. However, he was informed that permits would not be available until November and that he would only be eligible to receive one permit for the entire year, allowing him to host just one event annually. For someone whose music has become a regular source of community engagement and whose DJ work is part of how he earns a living to support himself and his children, this process does not provide a realistic opportunity to continue serving the community.

Despite his willingness to follow the proper procedures, Professa Prince continues to face repeated police interventions and threats that his DJ equipment may be confiscated. This equipment is not simply recreational—it is the essential tool of his profession and the means by which he supports his family. The ongoing uncertainty and repeated confrontations have also placed a significant emotional and mental strain on him.

We fully understand the importance of maintaining public spaces and respecting reasonable rules regarding park use and noise. At the same time, we believe there is a meaningful difference between enforcing regulations and creating unnecessary barriers for someone who has demonstrated a genuine commitment to working within the system while providing a service that is overwhelmingly appreciated by the community.

By signing this petition, we respectfully ask our city leaders to:

Work with Professa Prince to establish a fair and practical permitting process for recurring community music events.
Review current permit policies that effectively prevent regular community gatherings by limiting permits to a single event each year.
Recognize the positive cultural, social, and wellness benefits these gatherings provide to hundreds of neighborhood residents.
Encourage respectful communication and collaboration between city agencies, law enforcement, and community organizers.
Ensure that enforcement efforts are fair, consistent, and focused on finding solutions rather than creating unnecessary hardship.
This petition is not about ignoring community concerns. We recognize that not every resident will share the same preferences. However, public spaces exist to serve the entire community, and the overwhelming support for Professa Prince's gatherings demonstrates the positive impact they have had on so many people.

Music has always had the power to bring people together, reduce isolation, encourage physical activity, strengthen neighborhood relationships, and create a sense of belonging. We believe our community deserves the opportunity to continue enjoying these positive experiences while working collaboratively to address any legitimate concerns.

We stand with Professa Prince and respectfully ask our elected officials, city agencies, and law enforcement to work with our community—not against it—to find a fair, reasonable, and lasting solution that allows this valued neighborhood tradition to continue.

If you believe in the power of community, music, and fair treatment, please sign this petition and help us preserve a tradition that has brought joy to so many.
