Support Haroon Rashid Adam’s Right to Bail Consideration
To the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court

We are asking members of the community, friends, family and all those who believe in due process to stand in support of Haroon Rashid Adam’s application for bail.

We understand that Haroon is currently a suspect/accused person in an ongoing criminal matter. We acknowledge the seriousness of the allegations and fully respect the role of the South African justice system in investigating and determining the matter.

This petition is not intended to declare Haroon innocent, interfere with the investigation, influence witnesses, or prejudge the outcome of the criminal case.

Our purpose is to support his right to have his application for bail fairly and properly considered by the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court.

Being a suspect or accused person does not, on its own, amount to a finding of guilt. While the interests of justice must always be protected, we believe that those interests must be balanced against an accused person's right to liberty and the applicable principles governing bail.

We therefore respectfully ask the Court to consider all relevant circumstances before it and, should the legal requirements be satisfied, to consider releasing Haroon on appropriate and reasonable bail conditions.

Haroon should remain accountable to the legal process and comply with every condition imposed by the Court.

We are not asking anyone to decide the criminal case through this petition.

We are asking for due process.

We are asking that his bail rights be properly considered.

We are asking for the interests of justice and his right to liberty to be carefully balanced.
