Petition HHS to Give Britney Spears a Private, Independent Opportunity to Be Heard
The Issue
Britney Spears told the world that she was being abused.
She said she was medicated against her wishes. She said she was confined. She said she was denied control over her own body.
She told the court:
“I don't think I was heard on any level.”
Years later, one question still hangs over everything:
WHO EVER INDEPENDENTLY INVESTIGATED WHAT BRITNEY SAID HAPPENED TO HER?
Who was really making Britney's medical decisions?
If she said no to treatment, who had the power to override her?
What medical evidence justified taking those decisions away from her?
And does Britney herself even have access to the medical records documenting those years?
The public does not have a right to Britney Spears's private medical records.
Britney does.
Medical history is a cornerstone of medical care. Would a doctor of Britney's own choosing be able to obtain an accurate history of the medications, diagnoses and treatment she received during the conservatorship?
We are asking the United States Department of Health and Human Services to determine what falls within federal jurisdiction and to make sure Britney is offered one thing she repeatedly asked for:
A CHANCE TO BE HEARD.
Privately.
Independently.
Voluntarily.
Without anyone else speaking for her.
If Britney wants no investigation, that choice should be respected.
But if she still wants justice, someone should finally listen.
Britney Spears said she was abused. Why has no one independently investigated her complaints?
TAKE ACTION
If you believe Britney Spears deserves a private, independent opportunity to be heard by appropriate federal authorities, please:
