The Issue
The Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary has been a haven for animals for over 30 years and is a staple of the community in Henry County.
The Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary has recently been met with public controversy and complaints can be attributed to Shelly Lakly’s term as president of the facility. During Lakly’s tenure, Noah’s Ark was forced to shut down as a result of a major Avian Flu outbreak in 2022. Their lack of an adequate emergency response to the flu has led to euthanasia of over 100 animals. In continuation, under Lakly’s leadership, the facility has been met with numerous complaints of animal cruelty from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and are currently under federal investigation for their handling of the Avian Flu outbreak.
The unethical violations made by the Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary should not be taken lightly.
