PETITION FOR TRAFFIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS HARRIS ROAD & SUMMER SPRINGS

The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and community members, respectfully request immediate traffic safety improvements at the intersection of Harris Road and Summer Springs Drive. This area has experienced numerous accidents, dangerous speeding, near misses involving children and families, and ongoing safety concerns for pedestrians, bicyclists, school traffic, and neighborhood residents.

Harris Road currently functions more like a high-speed collector street than a residential roadway. Vehicles frequently travel well above the posted speed limit, creating hazardous conditions for the surrounding neighborhoods and nearby schools.

As a community, we are requesting the City consider meaningful safety improvements, including but not limited to:

• Installation of a traffic signal or enhanced traffic control measures
• Reduction of the speed limit from 45 MPH to 25 MPH in residential sections
• Addition of bike lanes and pedestrian safety features
• Increased traffic signage and visibility improvements
• Traffic calming measures to slow speeding vehicles

We are also willing, as a community, to work together with the City to help make Harris Road and Summer Springs safer for everyone. However, something must be done before another serious accident or tragedy occurs.

We respectfully ask the City Council and local officials to prioritize this issue and take immediate action to protect the safety of our families, students, crossing guards, pedestrians, cyclists, and residents.
