The Issue

We, the residents and community members of Hinckley Township and Medina County, are calling for immediate action to address the dangerous intersection of Rt. 606 (Weymouth Road) and Stony Hill Road.

This crossing has become a serious public safety hazard due to its dangerous geometry and repeated traffic accidents.

🚦 Why the Intersection is So Dangerous
Rt. 606 (Weymouth Road) runs as a diagonal east-west route, while Stony Hill Road runs north-south.
This creates two very acute angles where the roads meet. Drivers attempting to cross or turn often have little to no visibility of oncoming traffic, forcing them to “inch out” into the intersection.
High speeds on Rt. 606, limited sight distance, and increased traffic volumes have only magnified the risks.
As a result, accidents — some severe — have continued to occur at this location, putting residents, commuters, and visitors at risk.

🙏 What We Are Asking
We urge the Hinckley Township Trustees, Medina County Engineer’s Office, Medina County Commissioners, and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to take the following actions:

Order a formal traffic safety study of this intersection, including traffic counts, speed studies, and a review of crash data.
Implement interim safety measures, such as flashing beacons, larger stop signs, rumble strips, or reduced speed zones, while long-term solutions are developed.
Evaluate permanent fixes such as a traffic signal, a roundabout, or a full reconfiguration of the intersection to eliminate the acute angles.
Provide regular updates to the community so residents know that their concerns are being taken seriously.

🏛️ Why Trustees Matter
Hinckley Township Trustees do not directly control county or state roads — but they are our elected representatives and can formally petition Medina County and ODOT for improvements. By passing a resolution, submitting this petition, and standing with residents, the Trustees can push higher levels of government to act.

🚗 Why This Matters
Families, students, and commuters use this intersection daily.
The acute geometry and poor sight lines make it inherently unsafe, even for cautious drivers.
The longer officials delay, the more accidents will happen.
We should not have to wait for a fatality before meaningful action is taken.
