To the Relevant Roads and Traffic Authorities,

We, the undersigned residents, motorists, cyclists and pedestrians, respectfully request the installation of a modern traffic circle (roundabout) at the intersection of Kitchener Ave, Roberts Ave, Marathon Str and Milner Cres in Kensington, Johannesburg. 

This intersection has become increasingly hazardous due to the failure and removal of the traffic signals that previously controlled traffic flow creating confusion and making the intersection difficult to navigate safely.

The intersection experiences a high volume of traffic throughout the day, including commuters, delivery vehicles, public transport and pedestrians. The current traffic arrangement has resulted in:

Increased congestion during peak traffic periods.
Confusion regarding right of way.
Greater risk of vehicle collisions.
Reduced safety for pedestrians crossing the intersection.
Delays and frustration for motorists.
A traffic circle would provide several benefits, including:

Improved traffic flow without reliance on traffic signals.
Reduced vehicle speeds, improving safety.
Fewer severe collisions compared to conventional intersections.
Lower maintenance costs than traffic signal infrastructure.
Improved access for all road users.
We therefore respectfully request that the responsible authority conduct a formal traffic engineering assessment and prioritise the design and construction of a traffic circle at this intersection as soon as possible.

The safety of residents and road users should be given urgent consideration before a serious accident occurs.
