We, the residents and community members of South Charleston, respectfully ask the town to take action to improve and renovate South Charleston Community Park and its playground.

Our community park should be a safe, clean, welcoming, and enjoyable place for local children and families to spend time together. Unfortunately, the current condition of the park and playground does not reflect the quality of community space that our residents deserve. The park has significant room for improvement, and we believe it is time for our community to see meaningful investment in this important public space.

We are asking the town to consider repairing or replacing deteriorating and outdated playground equipment, improving the playground surface, addressing areas that are worn or neglected, adding updated and engaging play equipment, and improving the overall appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the park.

We also ask that accessibility be considered as part of these improvements. Incorporating features such as accessible pathways, inclusive swings, ramps, and adaptive playground equipment would allow children with disabilities to enjoy the park alongside their friends and families.

This park belongs to our community, and our children deserve a place where they can play safely, make memories, and enjoy being outside. When I was a little girl, I used to play here all of the time and come on field trips while at school, so it saddens me to see the condition it is in. A well-maintained and modern community park would benefit not only children, but parents, grandparents, caregivers, and residents of all ages.

We are not asking for something extravagant. We are asking for our community park to be brought up to a standard that South Charleston residents can be proud of.
