Petition for the Approval of a Music, Art, and Food Festival in Savannah, GA

The Issue

If you love music and the arts, please sign this petition to show the demand for The City of Savannah’s approval of a music festival that highlights our rich musical history, artistic strides, and its commitment to hospitality. This festival will reinforce our status as the "Hostess City of the South," transforming Savannah into a go-to destination for national touring acts while also serving as a platform to showcase our world-renowned food and beverage scene over three days in Daffin Park.

Daffin Park has long been known under the moniker; "The People's Park." Spawning over 80 acres, It was Savannah’s first landing strip for airplanes, and legends like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Hank Aaron, Ty Cobb, Jackie Robinson, the Savannah Sant Gnats, and recently the Savannah Bananas have graced its grounds. The park has appeared in countless movies, whether you noticed it or not, and its greens even played a role in the Summer 1996 Olympics. Yet, despite this rich history, there has never been a festival that has truly tried to put everything together that makes Savannah special while also elevating its music and culinary scene on both a local, state, and national level —either in Daffin Park or anywhere else.

Your signature is crucial in proving there’s a demand and ensuring this gets the approval it rightfully deserves. We want the approval to do something that is not only massive, but also long overdue for this city. Let’s come together and make it happen. Don’t just talk about it— let’s be about it. Please sign and help take a stand in helping us get the approval to turn this idea into reality today.

The Facts:

"Georgia's music and arts sector is valued at $29.2 billion, contributing 4.2% to the state's GDP and supporting around 200,000 jobs generating $8 billion in annual wages. Hospitality and tourism is similarly valued at approximately $30 billion, with the food and beverage industry in particular. Together, these two sectors represent a substantial total at $59.2 billion, or nearly 10% of Georgia's overall GDP."

Johnny Mercer, was a native of Savannah. He co-founded Capitol Records, which signed everyone from The Beatles, The Band, Joe Crocker, The Beach Boys Jimi Hendrix, Tina Turner, and Blondie, to Kings of Leon, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beck, and Radiohead.

Savannah deserves a festival that can bring world class artists like these to the Low Country.
