To the Jefferson County School District R-1 Board of Education:

We, the undersigned parents, students, staff, and community members, urge the Jeffco Public Schools to take immediate action to protect our students and ensure a safe learning environment.

Our Request
Install metal detectors at all entrances of Jeffco Public Schools to prevent weapons from entering school grounds. This measure has been successfully adopted in many districts nationwide and is a proven deterrent against guns and other dangerous items. Employ security officials for the quick resolution of any future incidents. 

Why This Matters
A safe environment is essential for learning. Metal detectors provide an added layer of protection that deters threats, reduces risks, and gives families confidence that Jeffco schools are prioritizing student well-being.  Security officials are on site and ready to address situations as they arise, providing an extra layer of protection for our children. 

How The Community Can Help Fund

Jeffco can prepare budgets per school and overall for investment. We understand Jeffco is currently in budget reduction. Donations from the communities can be collected to support this fund, once a budget is determined. This petition goal is to show support first, not request funding at this time.
