Petition for Stronger Traffic Safety Laws in Nevada
The Issue
On July 2, 2026, my life changed forever.
My daughter and our two foster daughters were simply walking home from the library—a routine trip that should have ended safely. Instead, they were struck by a reckless driver. In a matter of seconds, our family was thrown into a nightmare that no parent or caregiver should ever have to endure.
Since that day, I have witnessed the physical pain, emotional trauma, and long road to recovery that follows a preventable act of reckless driving. While our family continues to heal, I know we are not alone. Across Nevada, families have lost loved ones or have watched them suffer life-changing injuries because of speeding, street racing, red-light running, distracted driving, and other reckless behaviors.
These are not unavoidable accidents. They are preventable tragedies.
That is why I founded Families Against Reckless Driving—to give a voice to victims, support affected families, and advocate for stronger laws, better enforcement, and safer roads throughout Nevada.
We respectfully call upon Nevada's Governor, State Legislature, Department of Public Safety, local law enforcement agencies, and transportation officials to take immediate action by:
Increasing enforcement against reckless driving, excessive speeding, street racing, and red-light violations.
Expanding the use of proven traffic safety technologies where permitted by law.
Supporting stronger penalties for reckless driving that results in serious injury or death.
Investing in public education campaigns that emphasize responsible driving and the lifelong consequences of reckless behavior.
Improving data collection and transparency so communities can better understand where dangerous driving is occurring.
Providing greater support and resources for victims and families impacted by reckless driving.
Every person deserves to travel Nevada's roads without fearing that someone else's reckless decision could change their life forever.
