Petition for Stanford to Release More than 1 Romanov Record a Year

Petition for Stanford to Release More than 1 Romanov Record a Year
The Issue
Stanford University has one of the biggest Romanov Family collections outside of Russia, as a public institution it is their duty to allow access to the public. This collection was given to them by Princess Vera Konstantinovna Romanov, with free and unlimited access without restriction to any researcher. Instead, Stanford has restricted digitization to these artifacts.
What does this mean? Every researcher can get ONE document digitized PER YEAR. This is a gross misconduct of their duty as a Public Institution. Compared to their counterparts at Harvard and Yale who have digitization available no questions asked, unlimited, and for free. This information is being held back despite the preservation of the documents on microfilm and Princess Vera’s wishes. This also means the living descendants would not be able to have their own ancestors belongings if they couldn’t physically travel there, not even for a fee.
Stanford claims an overwhelming number of orders. They are also one of the best endowed schools in the United States. They are restricting intelligentsia and letting their memories rot.
The collection includes:
-Correspondence and photos with main members of the Imperial Family, Alexandra Feodorovna, OTMA, Nicholas II, Xenia Alexandrovna and so forth
-Chronicles of the family’s life in exile
-Memoirs of Princess Vera and Princess Helen of Serbia, wife to Prince Ioann Romanov which were previously partly published in a magazine but are not allowed
