Selena Quintanilla has had a big resurgence lately, with social media excited for her new MAC cosmetics collection, the Madame Tussauds wax figure unveiling, her Hollywood Star on the Walk of Fame and many other exciting things. What better way to tie all this together and come full circle than to rerelease the very film that introduced many of us to Selena herself The Selena Movie (1997) onto Blu-Ray format. What better timing too because the 20th Anniversary of the film is coming up on March 21, 2017.

Selena the Movie had it's initial DVD release available here. It also had a 10th Anniversary Special Edition DVD release available here.

Both were beautiful releases for their time but technology is advancing. Just like when people ditched their VHS tapes for DVDs but people are now ditching their DVDs for Blu-Rays. We Selena fans would hate for this film to be left behind in time so hopefully Warner Bros can dig through their vault and give Selena a Blu-Ray remaster release. Maybe even release never before seen materiel along with the Blu-Ray as bonus features such extended scenes, deleted scenes, behind the scene footage, get the cast together for a 20th Anniversary reunion to get new interviews with the cast. Maybe even sit the Quintanilla family down for new interviews or even have either the family or the cast do audio commentary for the film. These are all just fan ideas that hopefully Warner Bros utilizes.

The Selena movie has become a staple in the Latino community and just as legendary as Selena herself. A Blu-Ray release would mean a lot to not only the Selena fans but for Jennifer Lopez fans! Please Warner Brothers and Q-Productions consider this Blu-Ray release.
