Petition for Saving Sea Turtles and Possible Change in Government and Marine Knowledge

The issue

We are two year 7 students at Faith Lutheran College who are passionate about saving our Australian Turtles, and we are designing a bill for an assessment task. Our bill is about saving the turtles and keeping them from going extinct. Turtles play key roles in their eco-systems such as keeping the beaches that they nest on heathy and stable, and keeping their prey from over populating and throwing the food web off balance. There are 20 diverse turtle species, six of which are endangered. Shark culling is not helping this, in fact it is making things worse, as turtles are getting stuck in the drum lines. Our plan is to send this off to government once it has gotten the suitable number of signatures. Our Bill includes new rules to be implemented to help save the lives of turtles, keep them happy and to repopulate the endangered species, so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy these magnificent creatures. We want to build five marine centres all over Australia that are scattered with facts and statistics about turtles, we will also have breeding sanctuaries and provide educational programs to school groups and families. This program will also involve cleaning up the environment for turtles, which in turn cleans up the environment for people and other animals. They will give boating tours around local water and show the participants turtles. You can sign up to be a volunteer and help whenever a fundraiser is hosted, you can donate so that we can research more into turtles and keeping them safe. All money made and raised will go into raising awareness of turtle danger and researching into turtles.

Attached is a file which is a power point that we made with further information on this topic. This is the PowerPoint. Hope it works!

Please consider signing this petition, we will be very thankful.
