Petition for Rhea County's Political Leaders to Reject the NLIC Proposal

1,110

The Issue

The Department of Energy has selected five states that could potentially host a "Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campus".

Tennessee is one of those states, and Rhea County has been selected as a candidate to host the campus.

While Tennessee has a strong and storied history of supporting the nuclear industry, and the region relies heavily on nuclear energy, this campus will be used to store nuclear waste from around the country, rather than produce energy on its own.

We are calling for Rhea County's Political Leaders to reject this proposal, and withdraw Rhea County from consideration.
