Petition for Review and Removal of Head Coach Scott

Subject: Formal Request for Review and Removal of Head Coach Scott

We, the undersigned, respectfully submit this petition to request a formal review of the leadership and performance of Head Coach Scott, as well as consideration for his removal from his position. This request is based on ongoing concerns regarding program performance, fairness, and the overall development of student-athletes.

1. Continued Losing Seasons  
Over multiple seasons, the football program has experienced consistent losing records. Despite the time and commitment invested by players, families, and the school, there has been little to no measurable improvement in team performance. A lack of progress over an extended period raises serious concerns about coaching effectiveness, player development, and program leadership.

2. Concerns Regarding Conflicts of Interest  
There are significant concerns about potential conflicts of interest within the athletic department. Specifically:  
- The relationship between Coach Scott and the Athletic Director raises questions about impartial oversight and accountability.  
- Additionally, the involvement of a close family member (his sister) as Director of Football contributes to a perception of concentrated influence and decision-making power within a single family.  

While family involvement is not inherently inappropriate, the current structure creates the appearance of favoritism and limits transparency, which undermines trust in the program.

3. Discrepancy Between Middle School and High School Success  
The middle school football program has demonstrated consistent success, including back-to-back championship seasons. However, when these same athletes transition to the high school level, the team struggles to maintain competitiveness and begins to lose games regularly.  

This pattern suggests a breakdown in player development, coaching strategy, or program continuity at the high school level. The inability to build upon a strong foundation established in middle school is a major concern.

4. Player Retention and Morale  
There has been a noticeable decline in player retention and overall team morale. Players have expressed concerns about:  
- Lack of equal opportunities  
- Perceived favoritism  
- Insufficient support for student-athletes balancing academics, work, and athletics  

High school athletes are not only players but also students and young adults preparing for their futures. A program that does not support this balance risks losing participation and failing its responsibility to student development.

5. Need for Accountability and Program Improvement  
A successful athletic program requires accountability, transparency, and leadership that prioritizes both performance and player well-being. At this time, many within the community feel these standards are not being met.

Conclusion  
This petition is not made lightly. It reflects the collective concern of those who care deeply about the integrity and success of the football program. We respectfully request:  
- A formal review of Coach Scott’s performance and leadership  
- An evaluation of potential conflicts of interest within the athletic department  
- Consideration of new leadership to restore competitiveness, fairness, and player development  

We believe that with the right leadership, this program can reach its full potential and better serve its student-athletes.
