The Issue

We, the residents and property owners of the unincorporated Meadowbrook and Moro community are calling on our local elected officials to establish and provide a recurring, public bulk waste disposal program for our neighborhoods. Because our homes sit outside the official municipal boundary lines of the Village of Bethalto, we are entirely excluded from the seasonal municipal curbside cleanup days—even though many of us share a Bethalto mailing address. When we have large household appliances, old furniture, or non-routine bulk items that cannot fit into standard residential trash cans, we have no equitable, standard public method to safely get rid of them. This leads to junk accumulating in yards, costly private hauling bills for local families, and a higher risk of illegal dumping along our township roads. This is unsightly, unfair, and lowers our neighborhood property values. We are also requesting a specialized  recycling option alongside the bulk disposal program so that residents can safely and properly dispose of toxic materials banned from landfills suchs as lead iron batteries, automotive tires, consumer electronics, and small appliances, ect. These services combined will help us clean up our neighborhoods in a safe manner.
