Petition for Reconsideration of Darlie DeVaul’s Non-Renewal
To the Arcadia Local Schools Board of Education,
We, the undersigned parents and guardians of students within the Arcadia Local School District, as well as open enrolled, respectfully request the reconsideration of the decision not to renew the contract of a dedicated kindergarten teacher who has served our school community for over a decade.
Throughout her years of service, she has made a lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of countless young students during one of the most important stages of their educational journey. As parents, we have witnessed firsthand her commitment, compassion, and professionalism in the classroom. She has created a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children feel valued, supported, and excited to learn.
We are deeply concerned by the stated reason for her non-renewal—“unprofessionalism”—especially given that:
 • She was never formally warned or notified of any concerns
 • She was not given the opportunity to improve or respond
 • No clear examples or documentation have been shared
We believe that fairness, transparency, and due process are essential values in our school district. A decision of this magnitude, impacting not only a teacher but also her students, colleagues, and family, should be supported by clear communication and evidence.
This decision affects more than just one educator. It impacts:
 • The stability and continuity of our children’s early education
 • The morale and trust within our school community
 • A family deeply rooted in this district, including her three daughters, who are valued students and athletes
We respectfully ask the Board to:
 1 Reconsider the decision not to renew her contract
 2 Provide transparency regarding the concerns cited
 3 Allow an opportunity for review, dialogue, and resolution
Our goal is not conflict, but collaboration. We want what is best for our children, our teachers, and the integrity of our school system.
