Andy Williams JrIL, United States

May 28, 2024
Legalized slavery in general is a violation and that includes ignoring that imprisoned people have a right to vote. Abolitionist and prisoner's rights advocates are not remaining silent on ANY of these issues.
On July 21, 2021 Andy Williams Jr. filed suit [against The United States Government] in the Northern District of Illinois, himself as claimant, representing a class composed of Aboriginal, Indigenous, and African people who are imprisoned, and subjected to forced labor. The prison labor exception to the Thirteenth Amendment's prohibition of slavery violates the antislavery provision as well as the First, Fifth, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments.
PRISONERS ARE PEOPLE AND THEY HAVE RIGHTS!
