Petition for Poland to Purchase Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

The Issue

In light of recent international discussions suggesting that countries can simply buy other territories, we believe it is time for Poland to join the global real estate market.

Therefore, we respectfully propose that the Republic of Poland purchases the Welsh village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

Why this makes perfect sense?

  • The name is already impossible to pronounce, making it fully compatible with Polish spelling and bureaucracy.

  • Poland has extensive experience with complex consonants such as sz, cz, rz, ść — we are clearly prepared.

  • The name would significantly boost Polish citizens’ lung capacity and reading endurance.

  • Any official documents would instantly become longer and more impressive.

  • Every Welsh official wants to get rid of it.

What Poland offers in return?

  • Pierogi cultural exchange programs

  • Free pronunciation lessons (no guarantees of success)

  • Free citizenship for pronouncing the name of the village.

This petition represents a thoughtful and imaginative proposal, intended to highlight cultural exchange, linguistic curiosity, and the unique charm of exceptionally long place names.

If countries can buy Greenland or California, Poland should at least get the village with the longest name.

Sign this petition if you believe:

  • Borders are temporary

  • Names should be unnecessarily long

  • The world needs more absurdity
