We, the undersigned, respectfully submit this petition requesting the replacement of the current principal of Worthing High School with a leader who embodies collaboration, professionalism, and respect for the Worthing community.

Our concerns stem from an ongoing pattern of abuse of authority and unprofessional behavior that has fostered a toxic and hostile work environment under the current administration. Through numerous accounts from teachers, alumni, and parents, it is evident that the principal’s leadership has undermined staff morale, disrupted student programs, and eroded community trust.

It is our understanding that over 30 formal grievances have been filed by teachers citing abuse of authority, intimidation, and retaliatory practices. The following examples illustrate the gravity of the situation:

Public humiliation and verbal intimidation of staff who express differing opinions.
Targeting of respected educators, including a long-serving JROTC instructor who chose early retirement rather than endure continued harassment, despite widespread student and alumni support.
Allegations of retaliation and character defamation against faculty members who raise concerns.
Most recently, the school’s band director has reportedly been targeted despite his successful efforts to revitalize Worthing’s historic music program—a source of immense pride for students and alumni alike. Any actions that threaten his position not only jeopardize the progress of the band program but also demoralize the students he inspires daily.

Worthing High School is a symbol of resilience, pride, and community spirit. Its teachers and students deserve a principal who leads with integrity, fairness, and vision—someone who values collaboration over control, and unity over division.

We therefore urge the Houston Independent School District Board of Trustees to:

Conduct a comprehensive investigation into the reported grievances and incidents.
Appoint a new principal who is committed to restoring a healthy, respectful, and supportive learning environment.
Together, we can restore pride, trust, and excellence to Worthing High School—ensuring that every student, teacher, and community member once again feels valued and heard.
