The Issue

To Whom It May Concern:

We, the undersigned, respectfully submit this petition calling for a thorough, fair, and transparent review of the case involving Stevie Gomez Hodges, including the circumstances surrounding his continued detention, his most recent court proceeding, and concerns regarding his safety and treatment while incarcerated.

We are calling for justice, due process, transparency, accountability, and the lawful release of Stevie Gomez Hodges if the evidence and applicable law support his release.

CONCERNS REGARDING STEVIE GOMEZ HODGES’ CASE

Stevie Gomez Hodges is currently being held in connection with criminal charges. We recognize the seriousness of the allegations associated with his case. However, an accusation or criminal charge is not, by itself, proof of guilt.

Every person accused of a crime is entitled to due process and a fair judicial process. We therefore ask that Stevie’s case be carefully reviewed to ensure that his constitutional and statutory rights are being protected at every stage of the proceedings.

We respectfully request a complete and impartial review of:

The evidence supporting the charges against Stevie.
The circumstances surrounding his arrest and continued detention.
Whether proper procedures have been followed.
Whether Stevie has received meaningful access to counsel and the courts.
Whether his right to a timely and fair judicial process is being honored.
Any evidence that may support his innocence or raise questions regarding the allegations against him.
The circumstances surrounding every decision regarding his bond or continued detention.
CONCERNS REGARDING THE SEPTEMBER 16, 2026 COURT PROCEEDING

Members of Stevie Gomez Hodges’ family have expressed serious concerns regarding what they report occurred during his most recent court appearance on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

According to a family member, Stevie was denied bond/bail, and the family believes the circumstances surrounding the hearing raise serious questions about whether his constitutional and due-process rights were fully protected.

One family member expressed the following concerns:

“You denied him Bail Bond and the case should have been dismissed in violation of The Constitution and his Human Rights, His Right to A Fair And Speedy Trial, you all Violated. Free My Brother Now, Stevie Hodges Jr.”

The family member also expressed concern about Stevie’s safety while detained and called for greater transparency regarding what is occurring inside the detention center:

“What’s going on at that Detention Center. Nothing Better Not Happen to Him.”

We recognize that these statements represent the family’s concerns and allegations. We are therefore asking the appropriate authorities to investigate and verify the underlying facts rather than allowing these concerns to go unanswered.

If Stevie’s continued detention is not legally justified, we respectfully ask that the court take the appropriate action to secure his release.

CONCERNS REGARDING CHESTERFIELD COUNTY DETENTION CENTER

We are also deeply concerned about reports and allegations concerning the treatment, safety, and welfare of inmates at the Chesterfield County Detention Center.

There have been publicly reported incidents involving serious concerns about individuals who have been incarcerated at the facility, including concerns regarding inmate treatment and deaths occurring while individuals were in custody.

In July 2026, an inmate, Gary “Bubba” Blair, died while in custody at the Chesterfield County Detention Center. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Public reporting subsequently stated that his autopsy classified the manner of death as homicide.

We recognize that investigations into deaths and allegations of mistreatment must be allowed to proceed through the appropriate authorities, and we are not attempting to determine criminal responsibility or the final outcome of any investigation.

However, these circumstances raise legitimate questions regarding:

Inmate safety and supervision.
Medical care and access to medical attention.
Treatment of individuals in custody.
Conditions inside the detention facility.
Staff conduct and accountability.
The handling of complaints made by inmates and their families.
The circumstances surrounding deaths or serious injuries occurring while individuals are incarcerated.
Because Stevie Gomez Hodges is currently being held in this facility, his family and supporters have a legitimate interest in knowing that he is safe and receiving appropriate care.

We respectfully request an independent and transparent review of any legitimate concerns regarding Stevie’s treatment, safety, medical care, and conditions of confinement.

OUR REQUEST FOR TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY

We respectfully call upon the appropriate court officials, attorneys, prosecutors, law-enforcement authorities, detention officials, and other responsible agencies to:

Conduct a thorough review of Stevie Gomez Hodges’ case and the evidence supporting the charges against him.
Review the proceedings from September 16, 2026, including the circumstances surrounding the denial of bond or bail.
Determine whether Stevie’s constitutional and statutory rights have been fully protected.
Review whether Stevie is receiving the fair and timely judicial process to which he is entitled under applicable law.
Investigate any credible allegations concerning Stevie’s treatment, safety, medical care, or conditions while incarcerated.
Preserve and review relevant surveillance footage, medical records, incident reports, grievances, visitation records, court records, and other documentation relevant to Stevie’s confinement and case, as permitted by law.
Ensure that Stevie is protected from retaliation, intimidation, neglect, abuse, or any other unlawful treatment while he remains in custody.
Investigate any credible concerns involving the treatment or deaths of inmates at the Chesterfield County Detention Center.
Provide appropriate judicial review of Stevie’s continued detention.
Release Stevie Gomez Hodges if the evidence and applicable law establish that continued detention is not legally justified.
JUSTICE MUST BE BASED ON FACTS AND DUE PROCESS

This petition is not asking anyone to disregard the law, interfere with an investigation, or disregard the rights of anyone involved in Stevie’s case.

It is a call for the law to be fairly and consistently applied.

It is a call for allegations to be investigated.

It is a call for evidence to be examined.

It is a call for constitutional rights to be protected.

It is a call for transparency when serious concerns are raised about an individual who is being held in government custody.

And it is a call for Stevie Gomez Hodges to receive the same fundamental protections that every person accused of a crime is entitled to receive.

An accusation is not a conviction.

Detention should not mean that a person’s rights disappear.

Justice requires truth, evidence, due process, transparency, and accountability.

We respectfully ask the appropriate authorities to review Stevie Gomez Hodges’ case, investigate the concerns raised by his family, protect his safety while he remains in custody, and take whatever lawful action is necessary to ensure that justice is served.

If Stevie Gomez Hodges is being wrongfully detained, we respectfully call for his release.

JUSTICE FOR STEVIE GOMEZ HODGES

Truth.
Due Process.
Transparency.
Accountability.
Justice.

We, the undersigned, stand together in calling for a fair review of Stevie Gomez Hodges’ case and for his lawful release if the evidence and law support it.
