We are starting this petition to bring attention to the speed cameras on Jefferson Street near Sacred Heart University.

We understand that keeping the area safe is important, but we feel the current system is unfair to students. A $90 ticket can be a lot for a college student, especially when these cameras are right by campus and students drive through this area every day.

We just believe there should be a fairer approach. Whether that is issuing a warning for the first offense instead of an immediate fine or reducing the cost of the tickets, we believe that there are better ways to enforce these laws without putting an unnecessary financial burden on college students.
