The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and stakeholders of Corpus Christi, Texas, formally call for a transparent and independent investigation into the actions taken by the City Council to remove the sitting mayor.

Given the significance of this decision and its direct impact on public trust, it is essential that the procedures, legal authority, and conduct surrounding this action be thoroughly reviewed. Specifically, we request clarification on how this action aligns with the Corpus Christi City Charter, applicable municipal procedures, and relevant provisions of Texas Local Government Code.

We further request a detailed examination of:

Whether the removal process complied with all requirements of the City Charter, including any provisions governing the authority and limitations of the City Council
Whether actions taken during official meetings were conducted in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, ensuring proper notice, transparency, and public access
Whether due process was afforded, including clear justification, documented proceedings, and adherence to established legal standards
Whether any conflicts of interest or procedural irregularities influenced the outcome

This petition is not driven by political alignment, but by a shared commitment to accountability, fairness, and the integrity of our local government. Public confidence depends on open processes and clear answers, especially in matters of this magnitude.

We respectfully urge the appropriate authorities, including independent oversight bodies, legal review entities, or state-level officials if warranted, to conduct a full and impartial investigation. All findings should be made publicly available to ensure transparency and restore trust within our community.
