PETITION FOR IMMEDIATE REVIEW AND REMOVAL OF CLEMENTS HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELOR
To: Clements High School Administration, Principal, Superintendent, and Board of Education
Subject: Formal Request for Investigation and Removal of High School Counselor
We, the parents, students, and concerned members of the Clements High School community, are formally requesting that the school administration and Board of Education conduct an immediate review of the performance, conduct, fairness, and effectiveness of the current high school counselor.
A high school counselor is employed to serve ALL students, not a select group of students, activities, or organizations.
We are deeply concerned about what appears to be unequal attention and support being given to students involved in Color Guard, while other students are left without the same level of assistance, guidance, opportunities, communication, and advocacy.
This is not about taking anything away from the Color Guard girls. They deserve support just like every other student. The concern is that every student deserves that same support.
A counselor’s responsibility should not be based on personal relationships, extracurricular involvement, popularity, or which students they personally prefer. Students should not have to participate in a particular activity or organization to receive meaningful assistance from the person whose job is to help guide them through high school and prepare them for life after graduation.
OUR CONCERNS
We are asking the school system to investigate concerns including:
* Whether students are receiving equal access to counseling services and opportunities.
* Whether certain students or groups are receiving preferential treatment.
* Whether students who are not involved in Color Guard or other favored activities are receiving the same level of attention and support.
* Whether students are being adequately informed about college programs, career opportunities, scholarships, dual-enrollment opportunities, vocational programs, internships, and other resources.
* Whether students and parents are receiving timely and accurate communication.
* Whether the counselor is fulfilling the responsibilities expected of the position.
* Whether students have been treated differently because of personal relationships, extracurricular involvement, or other non-academic factors.
OUR EXPECTATION
We expect Clements High School to provide an environment where every student matters equally.
Our children spend approximately eight hours a day at school. During those hours, they should be surrounded by adults who are committed to their education, safety, development, and future—not adults who appear to prioritize one group of students over another.
Students should not have to be a member of Color Guard, a particular club, an athletic team, or any other favored group to receive support.
The counselor works for the school and is responsible for serving the student body as a whole.
If an investigation determines that the counselor is failing to perform those responsibilities fairly and effectively, we respectfully but firmly request that the counselor be removed from the position and replaced with a counselor who will serve all Clements High School students equally and professionally.
We are asking for accountability, transparency, and action—not excuses.
Our children’s futures are too important to allow favoritism, unequal treatment, or inadequate counseling services to go unaddressed.
We expect every Clements High School student to receive the same opportunity to be heard, supported, guided, and prepared for their future.
SIGNATURES
By signing below, I am expressing my support for an immediate review of the counselor’s performance and for appropriate action, including removal from the counseling position if the concerns are substantiated.

STATEMENT OF CONCERN: EVERY STUDENT DESERVES EQUAL SUPPORT
This needs to be said plainly: Clements High School does not belong to one group of students. It belongs to every student who walks through those doors.
We are not asking for Color Guard girls to receive less support. We are asking why other students don’t appear to receive the same level of attention, guidance, opportunities, and advocacy.
A counselor’s job is not to build relationships with only the students they personally like or the students involved in an activity they support. The job is to serve the entire student body.
If a student needs help with college planning, scholarships, career programs, dual enrollment, vocational opportunities, scheduling, academic planning, or preparing for life after graduation, that student should be able to receive help without feeling like they have to belong to a particular group to get it.
Our children should not have to compete for the attention of an adult whose job is to counsel them.
Favoritism—whether intentional or perceived—creates division, frustration, and distrust. It also sends the wrong message to students about fairness and equal opportunity.
We are asking school leadership to stop looking at these concerns as parents simply being unhappy and instead take them seriously as a matter of student equity, professional responsibility, and accountability.
If the counselor is doing the job properly, an objective review should demonstrate that.
If the counselor is not doing the job properly, then the school system has a responsibility to correct the situation.
Our children only get one high school experience. Their opportunities, schedules, college preparation, and career preparation cannot be put on hold because an adult chooses to prioritize certain students over others.
We are asking for action—not favoritism, excuses, or silence.
Every student. Every opportunity. Equal support. Equal respect. Equal consideration.
