Petition for Immediate Action – Dangerous Overgrown Vegetation at Riverbourne
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents of Riverbourne, Tidworth (Phase 1 & 2) are calling for immediate action to address the dangerous overgrown vegetation at multiple junctions/roundabouts of Windmill Drive, Tidworth.
On 26/06/2026, a motorcycle/vehicle collision occurred at this junction (image attached). Residents have repeatedly raised concerns that the grass and vegetation along this road severely restrict visibility for motorists, cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians.
We understand that there is an ongoing dispute regarding whether Wiltshire Council or Persimmon Homes is responsible for maintaining this land. However, this dispute has continued for approximately eight years since the estate was built and cannot continue to compromise public safety.
We therefore request that:
The vegetation is cut back immediately to restore safe visibility.
Responsibility for maintaining the land is clarified without further delay.
A regular maintenance programme is put in place.
Residents are provided with a written update explaining how and when this issue will be permanently resolved.
Our community should not have to wait for further accidents before action is taken.
