Petition for housing policy reform in Cambridge, Massachusetts
The Issue
In February 2025, Cambridge passed new zoning rules allowing multifamily housing citywide.
The intent behind it is good: more housing, affordability, and opportunity.
Yet, there are serious concerns:
- Developers will replace smaller homes with larger market-rate buildings
- Buildings up to 4 stories requires no community input, and does not require any affordable units
- Community input is reduced when projects are allowed “by right."
- Cambridge’s smaller neighborhood character could be eradicated
This petition is not at all against housing; it is for housing that is actually affordable, sustainable, and community-centered.
Our proposal:
Require stronger affordable housing rules for buildings above 3 stories and preserve meaningful community input in major redevelopment decisions.
Sign our petition to Mayor Sidiqui.
Help us push for housing reform that protects affordability and Cambridge communities.
