Henrico County Public Schools currently has a system in place that does not directly compensate teachers, school counselors, instructional aides, admin, or support staff for years of experience. Other counties move people up their pay scale based on years of experience. Henrico does not. HCPS just announced an effort to pay starting new teachers high salaries (which is great!) but it does not adjust any current employee salaries based on that new salary scale. This leaves experienced teachers making similar amounts as teachers with little to no experience. This is a major reason why people are leaving education. 

We are forming this petition to urge HCPS to immediately address the following concerns:

-Raise ALL HCPS salaries to meet inflation (>8%)  (including full time, part-time,  etc.)

-Provide transparent, clear, consistent pay scale with steps that directly correspond to years of experience

-Adjust salaries to reflect years of experience.

If you want experienced Teachers, School Counselors, Instructional Aides, and Support Staff to stay in education, sign AND SHARE this petition to tell the Henrico County School Board they need to find a way to compensate for experience!
