The issue

We call on Uber and DiDi to immediately:

Increase the base fare to $1.60 per kilometre
Reduce commission from 27.5% to 10–15%
End trip request (bidding) options on DiDi

These changes are essential to help drivers survive the current economic crisis.

Since 2020, inflation in Australia has risen by 7–8%, fuel, insurance, servicing, and living costs have increased significantly. Despite this, Uber has reduced driver fares by almost 50%, leaving drivers struggling to cover basic expenses while the platforms continue to profit.

Taxi fares—already 40% higher than Uber—have been increased further. The current taxi rate is approximately $2.50 per kilometre, while Uber fares have dropped from $1.25 per kilometre to as low as $0.71 per kilometre. This is unfair, unsustainable, and below the government-mandated minimum pay standards.

Drivers are being exploited and taken for granted. We demand fair, transparent, and livable pay that allows drivers to cover operating costs and support their families with dignity.

We urge the Australian Government and regulators to take strict action against Uber and DiDi for their unfair practices and failure to protect drivers.

All drivers stand united in demanding fairness, equity, and respect.
