On 4th November 2023, I attended Ape Fest, an event organized by Yuga Labs in Hong Kong. Due to the poor quality of lights and excessive use of UV rays at the event, my eyes got infected. The infection was so severe that I almost lost my sight and had to be rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment. Even now, I am still suffering from the effects of this incident as my face and forehead skin is peeling off.

This personal experience has made me realize how crucial it is for all event companies and organisers to take strict precautions for human health. The World Health Organization states that exposure to UV radiation can cause harmful effects on the skin and eyes (WHO). Yet many event companies disregard these facts, putting attendees' health at risk.

Therefore, we are calling on regulatory bodies worldwide to mandate stricter health precautions for all event companies. These should include guidelines on safe lighting practices and limits on UV ray usage during events.
