We, students and other members of the Berkeley community, are calling for mental health training for teachers at Berkeley High School. As the mental health crisis rises for teens, it’s vital that teachers understand how to deal with these situations, and how to provide support for their students. Many students don’t feel comfortable communicating with their teachers about their own mental health obstacles and personal struggles. This leads to a sense of isolation and it perpetuates academic stress. The goal of the school is to create a space  for kids to earn and grow to their full potential. The decline of students’ mental health is impeding their academic development and overall wellbeing.
