Petition for a Community Animal Foster Program in Coles County

 

We, the undersigned, respectfully urge Coles County government and local animal shelter authorities to establish a community animal foster program in our county. This program will provide a temporary, loving home for animals in need, help reduce euthanization rates, and increase the welfare and adoption rates of animals in Coles County.

 

As a passionate foster who has personally saved multiple dogs' lives through fostering, I know firsthand how vital these programs are. The above 6 dogs are dogs that I have fostered and found homes for in less than one month. Fostering helps reduce shelter overcrowding, improves animal behavior, and gives animals a better chance at adoption.

 

Why We Need a Foster Program:

 

Reduce Euthanization Rates: Fostering prevents overcrowding in shelters, saving lives.

 

Improve Animal Behavior: Foster homes provide a less stressful environment, improving the health and behavior of animals.

 

Community Involvement: Fostering allows residents to engage in animal welfare and help provide loving homes.

 

Increase Adoption Rates: Fosters prepare animals for permanent homes, increasing successful adoptions.

 

 

What We Are Asking For:

 

1).The creation of a formal foster program within the Coles County Animal Shelter.

2). A clear process for fostering and adopting animals, allowing the community to actively participate.

3). A Foster Program Coordinator - to ensure the success of the foster program, the role of a Foster Animal Coordinator is essential.
