Accept Christen Corcoran's Appeal to Return for Service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco

The Issue

Christen Corcoran is a Peace Corps Volunteer who has been medically separated under misunderstood circumstance and a false representation of her mental state. We, the friends and family of Christen Corcoran, as the ones who know her and her mental capacity best, request a thoughtful analysis of Christen’s current appeal to return as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ouaouizeght, Morocco.

We believe that the reports provided by the mental health professionals on Christen’s state of mind confirm her ability to serve and we ask that you consult the clinical opinion of the psychologists Christen has seen. We ask that these reports be the primary sources in her appeal as they have been provided by professionals trained to analyze mental state and fortitude. In this regard, her therapist stateside has offered to be contacted directly with respect to Christen and this process.

We understand the nuances of mental stability can be difficult to assess without a gradient understanding of the individual. Due to this, we acknowledge that a full report from all those involved in Christen’s wellbeing is required. Here is an attempt to give a collective declaration on the part of the people most in tune with Christen’s capacity to serve. It is our hope that our voices alongside those of the clinical professionals will ultimately lead to accepting Christen’s request to return as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco.

We know that Christen is only one of many volunteers that require your attention at any given moment and that your concern for everyone’s health and above all, safety is paramount. We do not want to ask too much, but we feel just a small amount of your time with respect to Christen’s desire and capacity to serve can mean a lifetime to Christen and a world of difference for her community in Ouaouizeght.
