Due to events that occurred at the ICE facility at 32 Shappard Dr on Tuesday, October 28th at noon, where multiple people were tear gassed, maced, pepper sprayed, physically assaulted and battered. by ICE and DHS, Durango PD stood by and watched it unfold. This directly goes against their vow to serve and protect THE COMMUNITY. 

Today, October 30th at 4pm, City Council and Chief of Police Brice Current held a town hall meeting while not allowing the public to enter. Brice proceeded to lie about the events that unfolded on October 28th, saying that DPD did all they could in their power to protect the community, when in reality they were hiding blocks away from the violence in an attempt to put their personal safety over public safety. Brice also called OFF EMS, citing safety concerns. The only first aid on-scene was two high schoolers, tending to the 10s of people who needed medical attention. Due to Brice’s lack of knowledge about reality, or refusal to accept it, the citizens of Durango request his IMMEDIATE resignation.
