Today I heard the perpetrator welcomed a new baby into his family.
A year and a half after he broke into our home and assaulted us.
You died a violent death no baby deserved and yet he walked unscathed because he is White and we are not.
That day, I learn anyone could walk away from crimes even if one trespass and broke into private properties, or assault the owners or commit murder, as long as person is White in Australia - No questions asked.
You would be about 15 months now if you weren't dead.
Daddy and Mummy often wonders what you would look like now....
If you would have liked broccoli or eggs....
Or how many teeth you would have, how many steps you can steadily walk before you fall, and what your first word would have been.
We have been robbed of the chance to ever take you to a park, an indoor playground, the Disney Land or Water World.
We live with the regret not knowing how you would have looked or the anguish you might have put us in primary or high school supervising your home work.
We will never get to see you graduate from High School and share the joy (or disappointment) if you never make it to uni.
Instead, we still see your baby cot lying around in the nursery. One that you will never sleep in.... yet anchored in the room we now find hard to walk in. We call it the "Kids Room" except there is no kid there.
And what about your little teeny clothes, they still lie in the sofa it had been for the past 23 months since our home invasion and mummy had never plucked up the courage to put it away.
Daddy cried today. Everything that was robbed from us....is something the perpetrator now enjoys.
We no longer believes in God because that murderer who assaulted mummy and you on 30 July 2024 apparently has a new baby. 23 months after he took yours.
This pain is still lingering.....and we are certain it will be something we take to our graves.
Our fight continues and we will make sure justice will prevail.
Yet baby.....we want to let you know, we loved you before you were born and always will.
