Dear Members of the Board of Education,

We, the undersigned Westport, CT residents, express concern regarding the current state of our district's Special Education system. We call for a comprehensive review of Special Education, requesting that this evaluation be fully independent and devoid of any financial ties to the District.

We respectfully ask that the Members of the Board of Education take the following actions:

• Vote on the Consultant Selection: select a consultant from a group recommended by district administration and recommended by parents, including the three reputable, independent firms already put forth by parents.
• Host a Public Presentation: invite WestEd or another consultant  to present the scope of services offered for a special education program review during a public meeting this school year.
• Guarantee Full Transparency: ensure this process is transparent, independent of bias, inclusive of stakeholder feedback, focused on resolving systemic issues, and executed without unnecessary delays.
