As the colder months roll around, we will inevitably experience a surge in crowdedness in the vital sauna. I believe all paying vital members should have fair access to the sauna, and my proposal is speaking out for the voices of woman-identifying individuals who wish to frequent vital gym’s sauna, but may be deterred by its overwhelming male presence.

As anyone who visits the sauna can attest to, the sauna population is largely male, with a roughly 7 to 1 man to woman ratio. This leaves many female members who want to enjoy the facilities a bit uncomfortable as the experience is akin to hanging out in a male locker room.

My proposal is to introduce a single hour per day in which the sauna is reserved for female-identifying individuals only. This is inspired by Japan’s Women-Only Train Cars which are designated carriages on urban commuter and subway lines intended to prevent sexual harassment during crowded peak hours. 

I am by no means implying that sexual harassment has been an issue in the saunas, but such consideration towards women, who make up half of our population, is something that I think we could all benefit from. 

Additionally, the hour should ideally exist within the peak hours, to account for the times where this is largely an issue.
